5th Review of Holly Lane from Amazon/Goodreads

5 Sweet Stars! I've been thinking of what I was ..., December 17, 2014

5 Sweet Stars!

"I've been thinking of what I was going to say in this review for a few days now, and I'm still struggling to find the right words. Holly Lane is the debut novel for author JB Morgan and is a clean, refreshing romance novel.

Holly Lane follows the story of Hollie and Layne. Hollie goes to Hawaii on her senior trip. Her last hoorah with her girlfriends before everyone goes away to college. What she doesn't anticipate is meeting Layne.....Layne is stationed in Hawaii and is enjoying some R&R before his next deployment. What he doesn't expect to have his dream girl crash into his life.......

From the moment I started reading Holly Lane, I knew I was reading something special. I immediately fell in love and connected with the characters. Even the side characters are ones that you don't want to miss!

Hollie, I loved how good of friend she was and how she was always looking out for others. She was so adorable. The "mom" of the group and awkward . I loved getting to know her and seeing her "crash" into Layne's life :)

Layne......what can I say about Layne??? He is the definition of swoon.

"Hollie, I've been waiting to tell you how much I love you until this special day. It's the staying kind, sweetheart. As long as I walk and breathe on this Earth, you will always be mine. You own my heart and soul, and I want you to know that you are always with me in my heart, no matter what comes our way"

His character was mature, funny and at times dorky. There were so many times that I found myself laughing so hard because, I just couldn't believe some of the things that he would say. And I think those little dorky things are what made him feel real. It was so refreshing to read a story about a good guy who knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to take risks. He was the perfect balance for Hollie. He made her take risks and live life for herself.

I really enjoyed the time that Hollie and Layne spent together in Hawaii. So many funny things happened during that week and I LOVED, LOVED watching them fall in love. I was so sad when their time together would come to an end. My heart broke right along with Hollie. I was rooting so hard for them to be able to make a long-distance relationship work.....

I don't want to say anything else because I don't want to spoil the story. But, I will say this: the story is amazing. I laughed, I cried, I swooned-boy did I SWOOON!! I felt so many emotions while reading this book and had the biggest smile on my face when I got to the end.

If you are looking for a clean, sweet, swoon-worthy romance; you will not be disappointed. This story is light, heartwarming with some angst and good romance. Holly Lane is a great story of first love, the power to overcome tough times and real, true love. And JB Morgan did an amazing job of staying true to her characters. I don't know what else to say other than I loved it! I'm looking forward to reading more from J.B. Morgan in the future.

Before I leave, I will leave you with a few of my favorite quotes:

My Dearest Hollie,

Saying hello to you was the best thing that's ever happened to me. I never want to say goodbye. Missing you like crazy.

-Layne"

"My gift to you this year, sweetheart, is me" He slightly changes the words. "I'm the forever kind sweetheart. There will never be and end with me as long as I walk and breathe on this earth. I didn't want to leave you, believe me, but life throws some wicked curve balls that knocked me out of the game for a while" "

4th Review of Holly Lane from Amazon/Goodreads

~~ 4 You're My Sunshine Stars ~~, December 17, 2014

"Holly Lane is the Debut novel for author J.B. Morgan and I have to say I thought she did a great job. She created a story that was sweet and tender from beginning to end. I think I had a smile on my face for most of the book. Now even though I say that, there were also some sad moments that brought tears to my eyes. To me this was the epitome of a fairytale romance story. She created characters that you couldn't help falling in love with.

What I was a little nervous about when reading this book was that she was trying to create a story that didn't have the typical NA stuff in it….sex, cursing and excess drama…..I was curious to see how she was going to be able to keep my attention throughout the whole book without it dragging. Well, she did it, J.B. created a story that had no sex, no cursing, and no excess drama and it kept my attention all the way through. This was such a wonderful journey for Hollie and Layne. They showed that with faith, determination and true love, you can overcome anything. I also think this story moved at a great pace. She was able to create characters that felt like you were a part of their lives. This story felt real to me!!!

This story is primarily about Layne and Hollie, but we also got to meet many other characters that were important to this story.

When the story starts Hollie has just graduated from high school and is taking a school trip to Hawaii with her two best friends Jenifer and Ava. While in Hawaii, she meets a Layne. Layne is a local…he lives on the island but is also stationed there for the Army. I will warn you that this book is an insta-love type story. Hollie and Layne hit it off right away and are inseparable. Layne and his best friend Miller, take the girls and some others on a daily tour of the island and all it has to offer. I really enjoyed reading about their week together, I just wish we would've gotten more of them alone and not always with a huge group of people. What I loved the most was after they left Hawaii. Layne and Hollie agree to stay in contact through any means necessary via technology. I LOVED the text messages and letters Layne sent in the mail. Layne truly was swoon worthy and made my heart melt on many occasions. Their road was not a smooth one once they were separated, my heart went out to them and all they did to stay strong.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a sweet, romantic, and swoony love story. One that is low on the drama factor but will melt your heart and make you think that Layne is too good to be true."

Sweet Read, December 21, 2014
This review is from: Holly Lane (Kindle Edition)

"If you could see me right now I have a big silly smile on my face. That was the sweatiest, swoon worthiest books I’ve read in a while. Some people might not like super sweet romances, but I do and this was it. For a debut book by JB Morgan this was pretty darn good. I really enjoyed Holly Lane and all the characters that made up the sweet, funny story.
On an after graduation trip to Hawaii with her girlfriends, Hollie meets Layne. Layne is in the army and is stationed in Hawaii (lucky guy). Hollie and Layne latterly run into each other and at that moment sparks fly. There is an instant attraction to one another. Hollie and Layne spend as much time together as they can, seeing the sites and just being together. Unfortunately, there time together in Hawaii has to come to end and Hollie goes home, but even the distance isn’t going to keep them from each other. Through texts and emails Hollie and Layne keep their relationship going. Those letters and text really had me swooning. I want a guy to write me the sweet letters that Layne was writing Hollie. There wasn’t a lot of drama (which I’m glad about) but Hollie and Layne do their share of issues they have to face.
Holly Lane is the perfect book for someone looking for a clean, sweet, and romantic, with probably the most perfect guy, then this book is for you."

"4 Sunshine-y stars!

What a delightful treat from debut author J.B. Morgan. If you're looking for a heartwarming tale this holiday season (or anytime, really), look no further than Holly Lane.

A cast of likable characters, a swoony male lead, numerous LOL-moments, and a sweet love story, Holly Lane had me smiling, laughing, crying, and just generally feeling happy.

I urge readers to give J.B. Morgan a chance. She crafts a clean New Adult novel that keeps the reader turning the pages. Bravo, Ms. Morgan!"

Great debut romance!, December 27, 2014
This review is from: Holly Lane (Kindle Edition)
"I received a complimentary e-copy of Holly Lane in exchange for an honest review.

Hollie is heading out on the trip of a lifetime to Hawaii It's her class trip with her fellow senior class to celebrate their high school graduation and she's looking forward to spending time in the sand and surf with her two best friends. She meets Army soldier Layne, when she literally bumps into him on the street and then later that day trips over him on the beach. Layne is enamored with the pretty, but klutzy and easily embarrassed Hollie and the two spend every spare minute together during her week on the island and develop an easy friendship which naturally evolves into a relationship by the week's end. Hollie heads back to Oregon with the promise to text, email and call each other every day since they both recognize that they have something special worth pursing long distance.

The texts and phone chats are not really enough for each other, but neither one wants to give up what they have. Layne starts a weekly tradition of sending romantic letters by snail mail and Hollie lives for the mailman to bring her weekly piece of Layne each Saturday. Their relationship continues to grow over the next couple of years, except for 2 face to face visits, it's all long distance and via their phone and letters. During their second visit, Layne breaks the news to Hollie that his unit is being deployed and that there's a huge chance that there will be a period of non-communication, depending on the location and the circumstances of the deployment.

I really enjoyed this story, the debut novel by J.B. Morgan. It is a beautifully written, clean romance between two people who truly believe that life can throw people together in an unexpected way and have it work. My heart broke several times for Hollie throughout the story, because I can't even imagine how difficult it would be to have 7 hours and an ocean keeping you apart from the love of your life apart for so long and then to be left wondering when/if you'd ever hear back from someone again. Layne's letters and his point of view during his deployment were just a reminder of what a amazingly wonderful and loving guy he is.

The ending was worth a few tears as well. Sean was right when he said that everything Layne does is for a reason and I'm glad that Hollie gave him the chance to explain everything and that her heart was still open to him.

Great job J.B. Morgan!"

New Site & Giveaway

If you would like to follow me on a new site, rather than Facebook, you can find me at:
https://www.tsu.co/Jbmorgan8

To my knowledge, tsu is not selective on whom and when your facebook posts will be shared. There's a better chance for bloggers and authors to have their information shared and seen by everyone. You don't have to pay for the posts, as it would seem Facebook would rather you do, instead of sharing your information how they used to. It's getting harder for authors' teasers, book releases, updates and so forth, to reach their attended audience.

On to other news:

Once Upon a Book Blog is giving away a copy of my e-Book, Holly Lane, on their blog today.

Updates on the process of HOLLY LANE

Great things are happening in the months of November and December, and I'm beyond happy, and excited for it all to take shape so I can see the finished product.

First  up:
On November 4th,  I signed myself up for the NaNoWriMo challenge. Which translates to: National November Writing Month, for authors. The goal is to complete a 50k book in one month's time.

Though, just to say, Holly Lane will be well over 50k.

The real reason I decided that I should enter this challenge was based on how crazy busy my life had gotten. I needed an extra push to finish the last little bit of Holly Lane.  With an extremely busy personal life, it's left me with little time to write as my deadline for the editor draws near.

Now, this is my first experience with NaNoWriMo, but I think it's been a great challenge for me so far. I love that they have forums to chat with other authors and they have pep talks, as well. Of course there are other things about this group too, that I won't bore you with the details of. But, I do love that when I sign in, they have what I call a "rooting for you" reminder that you can climb that hill and make it. Of course these are reminders for other things as well.

Anyway, I'm glad my fellow author friend, Mari Lincoln, passed the NaNoWriMo info in my direction.

On to some exciting news, or so I like to think, anyway.

Holly Lane hits the editor on November 16th for the second half of edits, and then it's off to the copyright office.

Shortly after all of that, when December 10th rolls around, Holly Lane will be off to the formatter.

Final product date for release:
My hope is to have Holly Lane out by December 20th.

Biting nails..let's count the ways

First reason to bite my nails:
The first part of  Holly Lane went to my editor two days ago. I have to admit, I was freaking out a little bit. I had to pause for a moment, as my mouse hoovered over the send button, before I let my finger click it. I felt like I was sending my first born child off to school for the very first time. It was scary but very exciting at the same time.

Second reason to bite my nails:
My editor is super quick and always early, which is a great thing, but not when I decided to add new things. I felt so bad I wasn't ready to give up the full manuscript. At least I was able to give her a portion of it and as of last night, she was just about done with that portion. See? Quick. <--- reason to bite nails... she's fast on the draw.

Third reason to bite my nails:
Now I'm over here chomping at the bit, working hard at finishing to reach my deadline. All of this without compromising the story line.

COMING SOON

Here's a peek at Holly Lane. A Christmas novella to be released in the middle of December.

What will you find? A partial cover reveal. The synopsis. And finally- excerpts of the full prologue.

77 quotes in a book... or is that 33?

Do you ever wonder why you think: "Hey that's a great idea! I should totally do that!"?

That's exactly what I'm starting think at the moment. Last night I thought:  I should give Layne his own point of view in love note quotes. So, that's what I spent my night doing. I planned to do 77 of those bad boys. Why? I don't know. I just thought it would be awesome and Layne could get his voice out there to the readers.

Yeah. So, about that... I'm up to 33 quotes and realizing I should probably stick with that number or I'll never get Holly Lane to the editor on time.

Though, it is going to be a great addition to the book. And in all honesty, I do love what I have and how it's working out. Still, I wonder if I'm nuts for throwing this in there so close to the deadline.

I also freely admit that I did have fun with those quotes.

Loving Holly Lane

I'm excited for my upcoming book, Holly Lane. I'm about half way through it, and I can't wait to send it to the editor at the end of the month.

The idea behind Holly Lane came from a trip I took my senior year after graduation with some friends. Once the memories started freely flowing, I was able to remember a lot of the things I did, and the fun I had. I knew I had to write a story about it. Of course, there will be a lot of embellishment used to help move this story along. And that's how Holly Lane was born.

I've been pretty lucky with this storyline as this book has come together pretty effortlessly. When I started this, I started the prologue and the first two chapters without an outline. Everything just flowed so perfectly. It wasn't until chapter three when I decided I should write an outline to keep myself on track and to know exactly where this story was headed. I almost can't believe I'm half way through Hollie and Layne's journey. I really don't want it to end, but I know it must. I'm enjoying this book immensely. It'll be bitter sweet when its time to say goodbye but I sincerely hope I'm able to revisit Hollie and Layne's friends for a second book. There's a couple of characters trying to steal the show at the moment. We shall see.

Also, I'm so grateful for the ladies who have been in the thick of this with me from the get go. I publicly thank them for all they've done.

Small blurb about Holly Lane:
This story takes place from Hollie Reed's point of view as we follow her and her funny, crazy, friends to Hawaii where she meets and falls for Layne McKay. Layne, and his friend, are stationed there with the Army. This Christmas, take a chance on Hollie and Layne, as you join them on their journey of second chances, hope and the power of love.
